Introduction to Egyptology - 20 Classes (Available Now)
Outline -This course was a basic introduction to ancient Egyptian history and covered religious myths and the pantheon that they introduce, an introduction to the ideology of kingship and how this developed into propagandistic texts. We also covered the burial rites and practices including mummification and the burial itself, also looking at the significance of the tomb design and role.
This course (10 classes) encourage the student to read a number of articles and be able to debate the ideas, and issues presented within. Topics covered include Hathsepsut, Ramses I mummy, Pyramid construction, and co-regency between Amenhotep III and Akhenaten. You will also receive a list of questions to aid you in writing a report of your findings.
The Everyday Lives of the Egyptians (Available Now)
This 10 class course will introduce you to the everyday lives of the Egyptians, where you will learn about different cities in Egypt (Deir el Medina, Amarna, Avaris) as well as household religion, and the roles that people held in society. We will look at the rights of women and their occupations held.

Ancient Egyptian Language and Mythology (Available Now)
Outline - The first 10 classes of this course will be a basic introduction to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, where you will learn to read simple funerary inscriptions and the cartouches of the Egyptian kings.
In the second half of this course we will look at the literary tales of the Egyptians and learn about their likes, dislikes, fears and beliefs as well as learning some of the tales that would have entertained them on the long warm evenings.

Learn to read hieroglyphs in 10 class modules. either by royal mail or email. Each class contains grammar notes, vocabulary and exercises to complete. This class can be taken in two ways:

SA (Self assessed) - receive two CDs - one with the classes and the other with the answers and monitor your own progress. Receive help by email only.
Introduction to Ancient Egyptian Religion (Available Now)

Introduction to the Burial Practices of the Ancient

This course will introduce you to the burial practices of the Egyptians, including mummification, coffins and tomb evolution and decoration. We will also be introduced to the funerary texts which would have guided the Egyptians through the afterlife, allowing them to be reborn.

Outline - This 20 class course will introduce an ancient Egyptian individual each week, looking at their lives, families and health using a mixture of resources including human remains, archaeological data and written resources. Some of the people we will meet are the pharoahs Akhenaten, Hatshepsut, Horemheb, queens Tetisheri, Cleopatra and officials and workmen Ramose, and Paneb. A perfect opportunity to get into the lives of the people who were part of this fascinating society.

This 10 class course will introduce you to the architecture of settlements, palaces, temples, tombs and fortresses as well as looking at building and construction techniques.
